All in fun, this healing madala was created as an object of art straight from the imagination of the artist! It contains colorful herbs, flowers, and barks all surrounding a "guardian angel." Beginning at the top left and going clockwise, the contents of the capsules and their supposed uses (which I got off the internet, of course) are:

Snakeweed - Long respected by local cultures a an infusion (liquid extract) or as a poultice (wet mas, plaster) on poisonous bites and stings or a s a bath for arthritis. The stems were also used to make brooms. The Lakota and Shoshoni used a decoction of the plant to treat colds and coughs. The Comanche used a compund of leaves to treat whooping cough. The Blackfoot would boil the roots and breathe the steam to treat respiratory difficulties. The Navajo used the plant to treat snakebites and the stings of ants, bees and wasps.

Cornflower - The dried flowers are antitussive, astringent, weakly diuretic, emmenagogue, ophthalmic, very mildly purgative and tonic.

Rosehips - Rose hips are very nourishing to the skin, as well as containing vitamin C. It is used as a blood purifier, and for treatment of infections, colds, and flus. As a herbal remedy, rose hips are attributed with the ability to prevent urinary bladder infections, and assist in treating dizziness and headaches. Rose hips are also commonly used externally in oil form to restore firmness to skin by nourishing and astringing tissue. Brewed into a concoction, can also be used to treat constipation.

Hops flowers - has been used traditionally for nervous disorders and irritability. It has been known to be beneficial in the treatment of insomnia and sleep disorders because of its calming effect. Hops helps the body with pain and insomnia.

Peppermint - Soothe Your Tummy with Peppermint. In the world of health research, randomized controlled trials have repeatedly shown the ability of peppermint oil to relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, including indigestion, dyspepsia, and colonic muscle spasms. These healing properties of peppermint are apparently related to its smooth muscle relaxing ability.

Wild Cherry Bark - has been used extensively as an aid in combating dry, persistent coughs, such as those associated with whooping cough, asthma and bronchitis. It has also been used to treat diarrhea, and it is being investigated for its possible antioxidant properties. It is also used for respiratory problems as an expectorant and remedy for all catarrhal conditions. It is also highly regarded as a digestive aid. Edgar Cayce recommended wild cherry bark for pulmonary conditions and as an aid to digestion. It was also noted for its role in cleansing and building blood.

Wear this talisman or display it in good health!
