Today is the day that my sweet friends open the package I sent them. I'm always nervous waiting to hear what they think of the ornament I made.
My Packages Ready to be Packaged for Mail
Let's take a look at my creation.
I started with double sided brass snowflakes. Using paperclay, I covered both sides to add deminsion and a texture I could paint.
Snowflakes Covered with Thick Layer of PaperClay
I used Lumiere paint to make soft, muted pearly-metallic colors on my snowflakes.
Actually, I forgot to take pictures of the painted flakes before I embellished them. but, you get the idea.
After the snowflakes were painted, I applied a layer of beeswax to them. Then I placed the collage bits, waxed them again and used hot wax to affix all the collage bits, micro beads, mica flakes, stones, etc. Both sides of the ornament were embellished this way.
After both sides of the flakes were waxed and decorated, I attached old chains, beads, vintage buttons, and religous medals as a drop from the top of the ornament using a jump ring.
Before they left me, the ornaments adorned a couple of my trees.

Can't wait to check the blogs after everyone opens my ornament to see the reaction. Hope you like them.
Where did you find the brass snowflakes?
Love those! And all that you did to them!
