"No More Death," acrylic and collage journal page. Thanks to all of you who have emailed asking if I fell off the Earth! LOL. I have been in a different town every day for the past six days. Actually, we had that third recent death in the family that I was predicting earlier. Jer's (DH's) cousin went to be with his Lord after a long bout with cancer. It was one of those passings that was in the end a relief and we are all celebrating his life and his good fortune to be at Home now.
After the funeral in Ft. Worth, Jer and I went back to Hillsboro to pick up my uncle (remember, we were there a few weeks ago for my aunt's funeral?) and take him to the family lake house - at Waterwood on Lake Livingston here in Texas - so he could be with us for our extended family's annual Mother's Day celebration. He and my aunt used to always be there so we wanted him to be there with us especially this year.
Then I took he and Mom back to my house to spend the night and we took him back to Hillsboro on Monday. Mom and I spent the night there and returned to Huntsville to spend the night at my house. On Wednesday, I brought Mom home to Houston - where I still am.
Yesterday was my grandson's birthday. Jer and I went to my granddaughter's "graduation" program at her preschool. Four year olds are simply precious - I wish we could have all stayed as innocent, happy, and darling as we were at four, don't you? After school Jer, our son, DIL, and I picked up the other granddaughter and the grandson and his friend, and went to an ice cream parlour to celebrate the birthday - can't believe he is already 11 years old! Fifth graders are so "grown acting" these days! Our birthday card was a hit for the boys -- it was a money folder (of course our grandson asked for money for his birthday) with a portrait of an ape on the front. It said, "Riddle for the day: How is your birthday present like your nose?" When you open it, it says, "You can pick your own!" and has a picture of the ape picking his nose! The two boys cracked up at that 5th grade joke! (The girls didn't even get it and couldn't have cared less.)
After the birthday celebration, we went to the eight year old granddaughter's softball game where she shined for us with her hitting and shortstop skills. Wow, it is soooo fun being a grandparent! We had a full day of special happenings for each one of our three grandkids!
Tomorrow - or rather today (it's 5 o'clock in the morning!), I go home and can resume my own life. Yea! I'll be concentrating on finishing a mail art swap and that altered calendar project that was only supposed to take a year but has gone on so far for a year and a half! Of course, I'll post pictures when I get them done.
So that is an account of where I've been! Thanks to all who have checked my blog and found me missing for several weeks. I'll be posting art again soon. Promise. Right now the meds for my back pain have kicked in and I think I can get back to sleep for a couple of hours. Tah for now. Chat with ya later.
