Wowza! Look What Came in the Mail!
Art by Deb Trotter

The fantastic artist, Deb Trotter,- - from Wyoming (why are we not surprised?) -- sent a package of her art to me and am I ever doing the happy dance. Three cards of gorgeous cowgirl paintings, a card with a collage of precious little Indians, a circle pin with one of the cowgirl images, and a moo card with a collage and a wonderful drawing of the head of a horse. (I'm sure the word talent in Webster's has a picture of Deb beside it.) She has expert quality drawing skills, exemplary coloring and collage know-how as well as powerful composition skills. In my opinion one of the best things about these pieces is her fantastic rendering of the girls' faces! They look like they could jump right off the page and each with her own personality depicted. Oh, and aren't those crows just the right touch? A masterful job, Deb.
I remember when Deb was thinking about taking drawing lessons and back in June when she posted in her blog, Cowboy's Sweetheart, about the result of her lessons. A trip to her blog is simply a must and a look at that post in her archives in particular. (Look for June 26 but hurry because it will expire soon.) Here is Deb's conclusion to her post:
"I don't know exactly how I plan to use my new skill in my artwork, but eventually I will.
What I DO know is this...
Never say, "I can't."
Never give up.
Never stop striving. Never stop learning. Never stop wanting MORE. Being more. Doing more.
And never, ever, stop being an artist.
If I can learn to draw in four days, anything is possible."
Well, Deb, we now know how you are using your skill and may I say, it is awesome! Thank you so much for my prized package of art. I'm lucky indeed to be able to say you are a friend!
I'm blushing all over my cowgirl face.
Thanks, Mz. Sally! Glad you liked your Yee Ha goodies.
