The assignment for me for this spread was to use a crackle technique with the colors green, purple, and cream plus any metal. This is in Jeanne's book and it has black pages. So, after I glued on some circle shapes of various sizes for texture, I painted the pages with Golden's Titan buff tube acrylic. When that dried, I used FolkArt brand "Crackle Medium" by Plaid according to the instructions on the bottle, using various hues of Golden's green acrylic tube paints. Because I applied the greens in swirls and ever-changing directions (careful not to go over any spot twice!), the background looks very complicated with lots of crackling. When it was all dry, I added the purple and other subtle colors to the background and then the collaged items. Before adding the metal accents, I covered the pages with transparencies of engineering drawings and affixed a couple of pieces of mica. I wish I had used transfers or rub-ons or something for adding the drawings & writing - something besides transparencies so that you could touch the background and feel the crackles. What was I thinking?
This book belongs to my art pal, Jeanne Stokes, from Gloucester in Great Britain. Here is her cover and the first spread she did in her book:

Our assignment for the first spread in our books was to use metal and the colors black with gold, reddish rust, and turquoise. In my book, I did a four page spread called, "Trust and Obey."

To see more scans of the pages I've done in these assingment books, check out my Colour Play RR photo album in the right column of this blog.
