This past month I worked in Katie Kendrick's altered calendar. The image above is a scan of my sign-in page for her calendar. I recovered the background with a decorative paper with a look of vinatge paper collage and embellished the page with postage stampsand rubber stamps. On the left and right are images of the front (left) and back (right) of my altered card whichis in a clear pocket on the sign-in page.
The amazing Katie had decorated the sign-in pages so well that we really didn't need to do any alterating of them. On each of the sign-in pages, Katie put a decorative paper background, a clear pocket held in by a decorative tape finished off with an embossed tape of our name. In the clear pocket is a card that we were to alter. If you'd like to see a couple of the sign-in pages just like Katie put them in BEFORE anyone has altered it, just click here. Katie was brilliant to finish off the sign-in pages like this because inevitably in these round robins, someone forgets to decorate their sign-in page. This way, Katie's book will not have a totally blank sign-in page.

Awesome cover of Katie Kendrick's altered calendar.
I have already posted one spread I did for this book both pages of which are fused collages. (see it here.)
Below is the opening page I altered for the month of August. It was a picture of a 1921 painting by Pablo Picasso, "Woman and Child on the Seashore."

The final two pages are collaged:

Oh, my, Sally! These are simply fantastic! I love the little girl studying the "giant" bird - or is the bird studying the girl? LOL
What a gift you have.

Sally! These turned out fabulous! Last I knew, they were just the beginnings of ideas. To see them fully realized is wonderful. I especially love the bird bath...you knew I would!

Absolutely awesome and striking pages, Sally! I just LOVE viewing your work! The way that you highlighted and framed the head on the Picasso painting is so cool, and the layering and detail on the bird page is breathtaking! Wherever do you find those gorgeous bird images???

I have never commented before---but I follow your blog all of the time. I just LOVE your art and all of the technique instructions you post about or link to. I have been playing with the Citrasolv technique. I always knew there was a reason I bought that bottle of stuff!! Actually, I think the original technique I read somewhere else was using the citrasolv on a photograph (maybe a transfer??). Maybe you know that one too??? Keep creating and just so you know, I am very jealous that I am not in the calendar swap and the recipient of some of your art!!!
