Currently, I'm altering pages in a calendar belonging to the incredible Katie Kendrick. "Love Me, Love My Friends" is a fused collage. The collage pieces are fused to canvas and then that is fused to a turp paper background. (For info on turp paper, see the post on July 8, 2006 in the July archives of this blog.) It is a stand-alone, tip-in -- in other words, I didn't alter a page -- I *created* one, punched holes in it, and added it to the book. Aren't those boys just show stealers? I'm thinking that image is from a collage sheet by Teesha Moore. This page is the right side of the spread in Katie's book. The companion piece on the left side of the spread is "The Summers of His Life" below:

This is a fused collage. The image and the fabric under the title are fused to a background of Lumiere paint on recycled x-ray film. All of that is fused to canvas painted with acrylics. The whole collage, along with tissue paper fish and some flat sequins, are fused to a turp paper background, which is adhered to the calendar page. Whew! It was much easier to do than to explain. I also used rubber stamps, water-soluble pastels, and an embossed tape label to finish the page.
Sally - these are absolutely stunning, especially the first one with the little boys. Your work is always so professional looking. The techniques sound really complicated - I need lessons so when are you coming over to England??? Hugs, Sue xxx

Is this the fusing technique by DJ? I need to find the instructions on that again. Where are they listed?
