This is the second page of the January section of my journal. The assignment was to use rusts, greens, and patinas to make a pages with metal. The background is faux metal made by burning wet Elmer's glue with a candle and wiping the resulting soot off the page. It is colored with "Rub 'n Buff." The focal pieces is a strip of decorated watercolor paper with rusted wire mesh pockets. The discs in the metal mesh pockets are pounded pennies. Each penny was marked with an embossed word and punched with a hole so that a gold string could be tied in each one.
